Contract type: Permanent / Working hours: Full time
Location: Lower Nabbs Farm, Wildboarclough, Macclesfield, SK11 0BB. Hybrid

Are you passionate about nature’s recovery? Do you have the ambition required to contribute to
bringing wildlife back to our region? Do you thrive working outdoors?

Then we want to hear from you!

We’re looking for a practical, passionate conservation professional to join our team as a
Living Landscape Officer. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help manage our nature reserves
and other wild places across Cheshire, with a particular focus on woodland and meadow creation.

You’ll work as part of a knowledgeable and positive team delivering a range of project-based
outputs including habitat creation, restoration and management, overseeing infrastructure
projects, and supporting volunteer activities. Whether it’s organising grazing, planning survey
and monitoring work, or managing contractors, your day-to-day efforts will directly contribute
to creating a Wilder Cheshire by 2030.

We’re ideally looking to recruit at Officer level, someone with proven experience in practical
land management, species and habitat knowledge, and the confidence to lead. However, we also
recognise that great people come with different levels of experience. So, if you’re still
developing but have the right attitude and potential, we’re open to appointing at Assistant
level, with a development framework in place to support you into the Officer role over time.

Whichever level you join at, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking team that values
collaboration, initiative and shared responsibility.

What you’ll bring:

Living Landscape Officer

  • 2+ years’ experience in conservation or land management
  • Solid knowledge of UK habitats and priority species
  • Confidence using tools, managing contractors, and leading volunteers
  • Relevant vocational qualifications (e.g. chainsaw, pesticides)
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset

Assistant Living Landscape Officer

  • Up to 2 years’ relevant experience or a Level 2 qualification
  • A basic grounding in conservation and strong enthusiasm for the work
  • Some practical skills and species ID knowledge
  • A team mindset and willingness to learn and develop
  • Energy, initiative, and commitment to nature recovery

At Cheshire Wildlife Trust we embrace agile working with a focus on supporting you to achieve
your objectives alongside a healthy work-life balance. We operate a hybrid working policy with
most staff working at least part of the week from home and/or out on site.

Closing Date: Midnight on Sunday the 3rd of August 2025.

Interviews will be held on the 12th of August.
