SEND Outdoor Tutor

Commonwork Trust

Contract: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Application Deadline: 14th August 2025

Are you passionate about nature, outdoor education, and making learning accessible for all?

Do you have experience supporting children and young people with SEND to thrive in inclusive,
experiential settings?

Join the Bore Place team – an organic estate, education centre, and beacon
of sustainability in the heart of the Kent countryside. We are seeking a dedicated
Outdoor Learning Tutor to help us deliver transformative, nature-based
programmes for children, young people, and families – particularly those with Special
Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

🌱 About the Role

As part of our Education Team, you will:

  • Design and deliver engaging outdoor learning sessions using Bore Place’s farmland, gardens,
    woodland, and natural resources.
  • Lead accredited programmes/awards (e.g. LASER, John Muir Award) that support young people’s
    development, wellbeing, and progression.
  • Work with mainstream schools, SEND groups, and family-focused programmes.
  • Plan and run outdoor learning sessions, school holiday clubs, residentials, and community
events linked to sustainability, food, farming, and nature.

You’ll be working in a person-centred way, shaping experiences around each learner’s needs, and
helping them grow confidence, life skills, and a deeper connection to the natural world.

👩‍🏫 What We’re Looking For

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A qualified educator/tutor or Forest School practitioner (Level 3 preferred) with 3+ years’
    experience.
  • Proven experience working with children and young people with SEND in outdoor or inclusive
    settings.
  • Experience in delivering and assessing accredited programmes.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Skilled communicator and creative educator across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Passionate about sustainability, nature, and inclusive education.
  • Comfortable leading outdoor learning in all weathers with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices (e.g. Makaton, differentiated learning).
  • Organised, proactive, and a strong team player.

🌍 Why Join Bore Place?

At Bore Place, we believe in learning by doing – connecting people to food, farming, and the
natural world in ways that are inclusive, empowering, and rooted in sustainability. You’ll be
part of a passionate, supportive team that’s making a real difference.

We offer:

  • A beautiful and inspiring place to work
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • A strong commitment to wellbeing and inclusion
  • A chance to shape meaningful learning journeys for those who need it most
