Lead the future of community energy in North London

Power Up North London (PUNL) is an award-winning community energy organisation delivering renewable energy, energy efficiency and retrofit projects that directly benefit community groups and public buildings. We’re driven by a belief that communities can and must play a central role in the transition to a zero-carbon future.

We are seeking an inspiring, dynamic Chief Executive to lead our organisation through its next phase of growth.

About the role

As our new CEO, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership, setting and delivering PUNL’s business plan and long-term vision
  • Oversee the operations of the organisation, ensuring high quality project delivery
  • Grow a strong pipeline of community-energy and retrofit projects
  • Lead fundraising and develop new income, grant and investment opportunities
  • Build and nurture relationships with host sites, investors, partner organisations and local authorities
  • Represent PUNL publicly and champion the role of community-led energy in London’s transition to net zero
  • Lead and line manage a small team fostering a collaborative and delivery-focused culture

This is a unique opportunity to shape and grow an organisation with a strong track record, an experienced Board and an active community base. Having just received 5-year funding from the National Lottery in support of our core running costs, you will be joining at a pivotal moment as PUNL expands its portfolio, strengthens its membership model and deepens its impact across North London.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A strong communicator who can engage a diverse set of stakeholders including community groups, government and technical partners
  • Enthusiastic about climate action and committed to community-led change
  • Collaborative, organised and comfortable operating both at a strategic and operational level
  • Proactive, dynamic self-starter who works independently with confidence to drive progress and deliver results

Why join PUNL?

  • Lead tangible, impactful, local climate action projects
  • Work with a passionate volunteer base and experienced Board
  • Join us at an exciting time, with the opportunity to shape the role and drive the next stage of our growth and impact on the communities we serve
  • Flexible working arrangements and a values driven environment

Deadline: 10am Monday 23 February 2026

Interviews will take place at the PUNL office in Central London w/c 9 March 2026.
