Conservation Officer – Pollinator B-Lines

Buglife

đŸŒ± About the Role- Make a Real Difference for Scotland’s Pollinators

Are you passionate about wildlife and nature restoration? Join Buglife as a Conservation
Officer to help Scotland’s bees and other insect pollinators thrive. Lead the SPEN: Pollinator
B-Lines Project, transforming utility land into vital pollinator habitats across the Central
Belt.

This one-year, Scottish Power Energy Network (SPEN)-funded project involves restoring at least
five sites in Fife, West Lothian, West Dunbartonshire, and North Lanarkshire. You’ll plan and
deliver habitat improvements to include species-rich grasslands and insect banks, tailored to
each location.

Your role covers project management from overseeing works and contractors, coordinating
volunteers, managing budgets, to engaging local communities through outreach. You’ll maintain
strong partnerships with SPEN and others, create site specific management plans, and identify
future collaboration opportunities.

This varied position combines hands on restoration, community engagement, partnership building,
financial management, and teamwork to create real impact for pollinators.

🧠 What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated and proactive individual with a strong interest in invertebrate
conservation. You may bring experience in areas such as habitat restoration, ecological
surveying, or community involvement but you’ll also be comfortable applying your knowledge
across a wide range of tasks.

Ideally, you’ll have your own area of specialism, while also demonstrating a broad
understanding of invertebrate ecology and a willingness to grow into new areas. You’ll be
confident managing your own workload, balancing fieldwork with planning, budgeting, and
reporting. You should feel comfortable working with a diverse group of people, including land
managers, contractors, and volunteers, and bring excellent communication and problem-solving
skills. A creative, organised, and hands on approach will help you succeed in this exciting
role.
