Introduction

Massive Open Online Course (MOOC): “Islamic Finance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” Development of Arabic Version

Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) is the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) global policy center. The Center supports UNDP’s global work on the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public private dialogue, and multi-stakeholder partnerships.

UNDP ICPSD provides various technical assistance services to UNDP Country Offices (COs) and related government bodies. Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) “Islamic Finance for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” is a pioneering initiative of UNDP. Developed by UNDP ICPSD in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) and Durham University Business School, the MOOC is available online in English language on the edX and UNDP Learning for Nature platforms since August 2022. In this context, ICPSD intends to contract a supplier to translate the course content from English into Arabic and integrate Arabic subtitles into existing learning platforms. This activity directly supports ICPSD’s goal of strengthening capacity development on the role of Islamic finance in sustainable development, thereby broadening access to knowledge and learning opportunities for Arabic-speaking audiences.
