Work Location
- In person at the UNDRR New York Liaison Office
- Possibility of partial remote work

Duties and Responsibilities
- Background:
-
- UNDRR is the UN system’s focal point for disaster risk reduction, guiding, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on progress under the Sendai Framework 2015–2030
- Supports regional and national implementation and works with UN Member States, civil society, private sector, parliamentarians, and scientific communities
- The New York Liaison Office integrates disaster risk reduction into intergovernmental deliberations and UN Headquarters policy decisions
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, presentations, meeting minutes, etc.
- Support organization of intergovernmental meetings, conferences, and side events; provide substantive, logistical, and administrative support in virtual and hybrid formats
- Collect and systematize information on disaster risk reduction practices and sustainable development issues; prepare briefings based on research and analysis
- Support outreach, research, and analysis on current disaster risk reduction and sustainable development issues relevant to intergovernmental processes
- Provide support for policy development, including review and analysis of emerging issues and trends related to disaster risk reduction, climate change, and sustainable development
- Assist in maintaining databases, websites, and mailing lists
Qualifications / Special Skills
- Must meet one of the following criteria:

- Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher)
- Enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)
- Field of study should be closely related to the internship
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter
- Ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, demonstrating understanding and tolerance
- Applicants are not required to have professional work experience
Languages
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of an additional UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is desirable
