Programme Manager – Sustainable Seafood

Marine Conservation Society

Full Time, 35 hours per week

Flexible/remote working in the UK

Help us change what’s on the menu

At the Marine Conservation Society, we’re working for a cleaner, better-protected, healthier
ocean. One key part of that mission? Helping people and businesses choose seafood that supports
thriving seas and sustainable livelihoods. Our Good Fish Guide is at the heart of this.

We’re looking for a Programme Manager to lead the development and delivery of our Good Fish
Guide and broader sustainable seafood programme. You’ll need to have a strong knowledge of
commercial fisheries and seafood supply chains, and the ability to build partnerships to
develop a commercial or consultancy partnership. If you’ve got a strong understanding of
seafood sustainability, experience managing science-led projects, and a passion for protecting
our ocean, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll do

  • Lead our Good Fish Guide programme, including the production of sustainability ratings for
    farmed and wild seafood.
  • Support and develop a small team of Ratings Officers, ensuring work is robust, credible and
    impactful.
  • Engage with fisheries, certification bodies, and the seafood industry to improve access to
    sustainable choices.
  • Work with our Communications team to share our findings with the public, supply chains and
    press.
  • Identify and manage commercial opportunities, from Good Fish Guide for Business to bespoke
    consulting.
  • Represent the Marine Conservation Society with external partners, championing the Good Fish
Guide as a trusted, evidence-based tool for change.

Why join us?

  • You’ll be part of a passionate, friendly and forward-thinking team.
  • Your work will directly help people and businesses make better seafood choices that support
    a thriving ocean.
  • We’re flexible, inclusive and committed to learning and growing together.
  • We believe in evidence, action and people-powered change.

Our values

We work to protect our ocean, and all that depends on it, the wildlife, the people, and now,
our planet. We are looking for people who demonstrate our values, but who also contribute their
own perspectives and experiences to add to our knowledge and our culture.

  • We are brave
  • We are positive
  • We have integrity
  • We are a community
  • We are credible
  • We are solutions focused
