do so. As Travel and Transport Officer, you’ll coordinate the delivery of a
new 5-year Travel Plan and manage day-to-day sustainable travel initiatives—helping to create a
connected, low-carbon university. From improving active travel facilities to developing
strategic transport partnerships, your work will directly enhance the experience of staff,
students and visitors alike.
You’ll lead the way by:
- Delivering and evolving the University’s Travel Plan, aligning it with Strategy 2030 and
regional transport goals. - Liaising with key partners to support effective long-term planning of strategic transport
solutions, placing our campuses as hubs within wider regional transport plans - Managing and refining the Met Rider bus pass scheme, planning improvements to our
connectivity between campuses and the city, and promoting salary sacrifice travel options. - Developing data-led campaigns that support active travel, sustainable commuting, and
reduced business travel impacts. - Coordinating travel events and liaising with local authorities, transport providers, and
internal stakeholders. - Advising on and working with other teams to improve our public realm, campus infrastructure
and active travel facilities. - Supporting broader climate action work and integrating transport planning across University
operations.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be a proactive and organised professional with a passion for sustainable travel and
community engagement. You’ll combine excellent communication skills with demonstrable
experience in travel planning to create practical, inclusive and environmentally responsible
transport solutions.
- Experience in delivering travel planning or transport initiatives in a large organisation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and communication skills.
- A strong understanding of sustainable travel trends, regional networks, and policy.
- Ability to plan and deliver projects, events and reporting activities independently.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with diverse teams and external partners.
- Demonstrable personal commitment to addressing climate change.
- Ideally, familiarity with higher education or public sector settings and Welsh transport
frameworks.
